New Mobile App 'CameraV' Helps Documenters Create Verifiable Media

One of the major challenges that we’ve aimed to tackle in recent years is how to verify and find contextual information about pieces of citizen media. And for the last few years, along with the digital security collective The Guardian Project, we’ve been working on a tech approach with the CameraV app.


Impact Story: Handpump Repaired in Tati Village

In April 2015, I made a video on the issue of access to water in Kamdara block’s Tati village which comes under Rampur panchayat. The hand pump had been broken for 6 months. All the sources of water accessible to the community were dirty or not working at all. I decided to tackle the issue and got the community together to file an application to the Block Development Officer area.

Lena Hendry, our colleague and a staff of KOMAS, is currently undergoing trial in the criminal court for allegedly breaking the law by screening NO FIRE ZONE: THE KILLING FIELDS OF SRI LANKA, a human rights documentary film about war crimes committed during the civil war in Sri Lanka.
