Demolition of cistern in the South Hebron Hills, February 2017

On 23 Feb. 2017 the Civil Administration demolished a cistern dug by residents of Khashm a-Daraj-Khashm-al-Karem, the South Hebron Hills. While the community is on the water grid, Israel does not allow it to hookup its farmland, so the limited supply is insufficient for livestock. Mustafa al-Faqir related: The sheep drink the rainwater in the stream, but it’ll soon dry up and we’ll have to buy water, which is a big expense. Shepherding is our only livelihood. The effort and money we put into the cistern is all lost. Footage by: ‘Eid Hadhalin
